The Long Island ALS Walk

Join Our ALS Walk

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. After diagnosis, a patient is only expected to live between 2 to 5 years. The lives affected by ALS aren’t limited to the patients; the friends and families of ALS patients also suffer through watching the degeneration of their loved ones. At DeFreitas and Minsky, we are personally affected by the heartache caused by ALS, and feel strongly about raising awareness for the disease and donations to support research that will lead to a cure. Join us as we walk, and together we can help support the medical teams that may one day put an end to ALS suffering.

Who Does ALS Affects

Every 90 minutes, a person in the US is diagnosed with ALS. There are no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries that restrict who’s susceptible to this disease—that’s why raising awareness is so important. There is no known cause for ALS, but research has come a long way. Currently, it costs an average of $200,000 a year to provide care to an ALS patient. Donations are critical; YOU can make a difference.

DeFreitas and Minsky Are Here to Help

DeFreitas and Minsky Certified Public Accountants are proud to be sponsoring the ALS walk. Unfortunately, Manny’s sister has been diagnosed with ALS, and the family here at DM Accounting is banning together to support this worthy cause. With our group efforts, our team hopes to make a difference in the lives of everyone affected by this terrible disease. Please contribute what you can, and if you’re able, we welcome you to join Manny’s Team for the walk.

Visit the link below to join or donate to Manny’s Team. We have made it halfway to our goal of $2,000, and with your support we can go all the way. Everyone at DeFreitas and Minsky appreciates your help.
